New Ergonomic Fastening System Increases Efficiency

WACO, TX - Alcoa Fastening Systems introduces its Huck-brand BOBTAILŪ lockbolt fastening system. Comprised of Huck's BOBTAIL lockbolt and its lightweight installation tooling, this new fastening system provides the highest vibration resistance and most efficient installation in its class. Utilizing a swaging process, the BOBTAIL's collar is pressed onto the hardened threads of the lockbolt and is forced into the grooves of the pin-forming a permanent, vibration-proof connection that ensures the integrity of the joint. Installation of the BOBTAIL lockbolt is made simple with Huck's advanced tooling. Designed with the operator in mind, the tooling features an ergonomic shape, quiet operation, and an extremely light weight. Unlike conventional threaded fasteners, no torque or impact is transferred to the operator during the installation process, greatly reducing operator fatigue. A quick visual inspection is all that is needed to ensure a properly installed fastener. Removal of the lockbolt for repairs is easily achieved using the same installation tooling.

The BOBTAIL fastening system is available in Grades 2, 5, and 8, and comes in a variety of standard and metric sizes.

Huck Fasteners, a division of Alcoa Fastening Systems, is a leading producer of fasteners and installation tools designed for a broad range of manufacturing applications. For more information, visit: www.AlcoaFasteners.com/bobtail
