Air Products Epoxy Curing Agents Offer Improved Performance in Difficult Environments

Products Target Marine, Maintenance and Chemical Applications

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa., Nov. 1 -- Long overcoatability and high corrosion and chemical resistance do not often go hand-in-hand, however, Air Products (NYSE:APD) now has two epoxy curing agents that offer both properties. Ancamide(R) 2634(TM) curing agent and Ancamide 2652 curing agent both provide formulators with strong barrier coats for difficult environments such as marine, maintenance and chemical facilities.

Ancamide 2652 curing agent is a special polyamide adduct designed for use with liquid epoxy resins in two-part, ambient-cured coatings specifically developed to provide long overcoatability with epoxy and alternative resin technology. In fact, with Ancamide 2652 curing agent, you can wait up to three months between first and second coats and do it without any surface preparation.

Ancamide 2634 curing agent is a modified polyamide curing agent designed for use in two-component solvent-borne epoxy coatings. Aside from corrosion and chemical resistance, it also offers good heat and cathodic disbondment resistance, along with good flexibility and adhesion and high blush resistance. It has a broad application range (40 degrees to 240 degrees Fahrenheit) and is designed to be cost-effective, especially versus standard polyamides that are reliant on costly raw materials. Ancamide 2634 curing agent is less dependent on the typical raw materials used in producing standard polyamides, which makes it less susceptible to volatile price swings.

"For ambient cure coatings, Air Products Ancamide 2634 curing agent and Ancamide 2652 curing agent both provide excellent barrier protection in harsh environments," said Curt Junge, North American market manager, Epoxy Additives. "The high-solids content for both products also means they are lower in VOCs."
