Datamatics Releases the LogClock: Tracking Time & Attendance for Salaried Professionals
FORDS, N.J. (September 10, 2009) - Datamatics Management Services, Inc., an established provider of workforce management solutions, announced the release of the LogClock, an unobtrusive method of collecting employee attendance.
Once deployed on a Windows-operated computer, the LogClock records login and logout type events. These transactions are immediately sent to the Datamatics system database. If the computer is not connected to the network, they will be held until a connection is made, at which point the transactions are uploaded without any user interaction. This makes the LogClock ideal for a mobile work force.
Datamatics develops both enterprise-based and web-based workforce management software solutions, allowing businesses to capture time and attendance, apply complex work and benefit rules, allocate job costs and create robust reports.
Ray Embry, principal developer of the LogClock, believes the application provides a unique opportunity for a business environment with a salary or commission-based workforce.
"Organizations with a professional salaried environment rarely track time and attendance because their workers become agitated when asked to clock-in and clock-out. This makes it hard to delineate an individual worker's attendance and work history with precision," Embry explains. "Recording time and attendance without interrupting a worker's activities would be a great asset for any organization."
Norman Heinle, Chairman of Datamatics Management Services, Inc., recalls how a major chemical company requested a similar facility over twenty years ago.
"Datamatics developed a custom employee clocking routine for the Novel Netware sign-in," Heinle says. "Today, with the near-universality of Windows-based systems, the LogClock can benefit a broad range of companies seeking a transparent means of employee accountability."
Heinle envisions the LogClock opening up new market segments for the company's workforce management solutions.
"Currently, about 90 percent of Datamatics clients utilize their workforce management solutions for an hourly-waged staff. The LogClock will have the potential to add some balance to that number," Heinle states. "For most companies, employees are their largest asset. All companies should be invested in technologies which allow them to realize the greatest efficiency and productivity from their workforce, especially for high-pay executives."
The LogClock has the option of documenting six computer events: login, logout, lock, unlock, screensaver start, and screensaver stop. If employers prefer to receive a single record per day the LogClock can be set to capture just the first login and last logout.
Employers may configure the LogClock to collect time information when a worker logs in to Windows, or when they enter a specific domain. Using the domain setting allows for a worker to also use a computer for personal use.
The LogClock can also utilize Microsoft's Lightweight Active Directory Protocol (LADP) to facilitate a single sign-on functionality, allowing seamless access to the Datamatics system.
