Constructed with plastic over specially molded internal core, ATCA injector/ejector handle helps manage high insertion force with its degree of leverage. Integrated slide-motion button allows handle to be latched shut and activate optional micro-switch. Ergonomics of intuitive, 2-step latching feature also reduce force required to disengage handle. Elma Develops Long ATCA Handle for High Insertion Forces
Fremont, CA, Aug 20, 2009 - Elma Electronic Inc, a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products, has expanded its ATCA component offering with a new longer handle that is more ergonomic and helps manage HIF (high insertion force).
The new Elma ATCA injector/ejector handle was designed to handle higher insertion forces with its increased leverage. With the plastic over a specially molded internal core, the new handle is highly rugged.
A slide-motion button on the ATCA handles allows it to be latched shut and to activate an optional micro-switch. This function is similar to the latching button on Elma's highly successful IEEE handles. Moving the sliding button activates the micro-switch and unlatches the handle so that it pivots out by a few degrees and presents itself to the operator for removal. This allows the user to grab the handle easily and maximize leverage. The ergonomics of this intuitive two-step latching feature also reduces the amount of force required to disengage the handle.
The Elma ATCA handles are supplied as one-piece assemblies, greatly reducing the hidden assembly costs of many handles currently in the market. In the closed position the handle is flush against the panel to protect against inadvertent opening prior to activating the micro-switch. With a solid click shut, the user gets audible confirmation
