Brilliant Telecommunications Adds Element Management to Product Portfolio

Enables network operators to manage a network of PTP grandmasters and slaves

Campbell, Calif. - Brilliant Telecommunications, Inc., a leading supplier of next-generation packet-based, network synchronization equipment and monitoring solutions, announced the immediate availability of SyncEMS, a powerful, standards-based, unified management platform to manage a network of IEEE 1588-2008 (PTP) grandmasters, boundary clocks and slaves. SyncEMS delivers a full range of configuration and status monitoring of synchronization network elements while providing essential performance management capabilities. This information can be used to proactively identify, diagnose and resolve issues before the synchronization network is impacted.

SyncEMS delivers end-to-end network visibility by providing a topographic view of PTP devices and enabling the management of these devices. Designed around a distributed architecture, this standards-based system serves as a unified platform for administration, provisioning, configuration and alarm monitoring of all PTP devices in the network. SyncEMS is designed to support the Fault, Configuration, Accounting/Administration, Performance and Security (FCAPS) functionality, as defined by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU-T).

Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are becoming an increasingly popular way for service providers to manage, measure and maintain the delivery of converged services to their subscribers. A key component of SLAs is the ability to effectively monitor and measure service performance for delay, jitter and packet loss-commonly known as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) -while providing real-time representation of the information in a clear and concise format. SyncEMS, when combined with Brilliant's TimeProbe agents embedded in the company's PTP devices, facilitates monitoring of these KPIs and enables service providers to better manage and maintain SLAs across their entire network for all of their services.

"Since synchronization directly affects network performance and Quality of Service for voice, video and data, it is paramount for service providers to be able to manage and monitor synchronization network elements," said Dr. Charles Barry, President, Brilliant Telecommunications. "With Brilliant's SyncEMS management platform and TimeProbe agents, network operators now have an intuitive and user-friendly management platform that can monitor alarms, seamlessly and accurately report on the network's health and performance, and quickly change device configurations."

SyncEMS is available immediately. For additional product information and system requirements, please visit our website at BrilliantTelecom.com. For pricing information please contact sales@BrilliantTelecom.com
