New Micrometer Line Offers Measuring Capabilities from 0-4 Inches

ATHOL, MASS. - The L.S. Starrett Company, a global manufacturer of precision tools and metrology equipment and other tools, today announced that its 795 and 796 Series Electronic Micrometers now offer measuring capabilities from 0-4 inches (0-125 mm). Both micrometers feature an IP67 level of protection against coolant, water, chips, dirt, dust and other contaminants found in hostile shop environments. While these full-featured electronic micrometers share the exact features and specifications, the 795 includes an RS232 output port for data transmission. The 796 does not offer a data output capability.

The RS232 outlet port allows users to output data to Starrett SPC Plus hardware and software, as well as to PCs. The 795 micrometer works exceptionally well with the Starrett Datasure® Wireless Data Collection System.

Both electronic micrometers include large, easy-to-read (.275"/7mm), high-contrast LCD digital readout; a balanced, tapered frame for comfortable and accurate measuring; Starrett no-glare satin chrome finish on the thimble and sleeve, and two 3-volt batteries for more than a year of normal usage. At the heart of the micrometers' accuracy and smooth operating one-piece friction thimble is an extremely hard and stable one-piece spindle.

Other features include micro-lapped carbide measuring faces; automatic shut-off after 20 minutes of nonuse; inch/millimeter conversion, and an ability to zero the tool at any position as well as retain and return to the true zero reading.
