Advance Introduces Full Line of Optanium® 2.0 High-Efficiency Electronic Ballasts

(January 18th, 2006 - Rosemont, Illinois) Advance proudly announces the introduction of its full line of revolutionary Optanium® 2.0 high-efficiency electronic ballasts with IntelliVolt®, driving one-four fluorescent T8 lamps. Available in the complete range of both Instant Start and Programmed Start options as well as in Low, Normal, and High Ballast Factor versions to promote maximum flexibility and freedom of choice, Optanium 2.0 high-efficiency electronic ballasts optimize and are fully compatible with the market's broad range of T8 lamps, including standard 40-Watt, 32-Watt, 25-Watt, and 17-Watt versions as well as 4-foot 30-Watt, 28-Watt, and 25-Watt energy-saving models.

Representing a breakthrough in fluorescent T8 system componentry, Optanium 2.0 high-efficiency electronic ballasts incorporate Advance's exclusive True Performance TechnologySM (TPT) engineering to insure optimum performance and maximum energy savings. Ideal for general, decorative, retail, and indirect lighting, the ballasts optimize lumen-per-watt performance and enable T8 lighting systems within a broad range of commercial, industrial, and institutional applications to reach their full potential.

Advance's Optanium 2.0 Programmed Start ballasts are available to meet specific needs in two versions - a standard light output design (0.88 Ballast Factor) and a low-watt design (0.71 Ballast Factor). The ballasts' programmed start lamp ignition provides extended lamp life in frequent switching applications and supports the frequent lamp on/off cycles associated with the use of occupancy sensors or motion detectors. The ballasts also feature cold-start capability down to 0°F as well as a low profile, lightweight housing optimized for today's fixture designs, and fully meet new NEMA/CEE high performance T8 lighting system specifications.

Advance's Optanium 2.0 Instant Start ballasts are available to meet specific needs in two versions - a standard light output design (0.87 Ballast Factor) and a low-watt design (0.77 Ballast Factor). Instant start models are equal to or better than single-source lamp/ballast "systems" in lumen-per-watt efficiency and reduce initial costs for always-on applications. The ballasts also feature cold start capability down to -20°F as well as a low profile, lightweight housing optimized for today's fixture designs, and fully meet new NEMA/CEE high performance T8 lighting system specifications.

Other powerful features incorporated within the Optanium 2.0 family of high-efficiency electronic ballasts include IntelliVolt multiple-voltage technology (enabling operation at any input voltage from 120 to 277 volts, 50/60Hz), independent or semi-independent lamp operation (insuring partial or full light output when one or more lamps fail), and less than 10% total harmonic distortion (THD). The additional inclusion of such beneficial features as anti-striation circuitry, lamp end-of-life protection, and anti-arcing technology enhances safety and minimizes maintenance concerns. The ballasts further carry Advance's standard 5-year warranty and qualify for Advance's exclusive PLUS 90 Protection®, which matches any lamp manufacturer's published lamp-ballast system warranty, plus adds 90 days of additional warranty protection-on both the lamp and ballast.

Highly efficient, particularly when used in conjunction with the market's range of high-lumen, extended-life T8 lamps, Advance's Optanium 2.0 electronic ballasts can help reduce energy consumption by over 45% relative to older systems involving T12 lamps and magnetic ballasts and by 20-30% relative to conventional T8 lamps and electronic ballasts. Suitable for both new construction and retrofit applications, Optanium 2.0 electronic ballasts represent a maximum-efficiency, high-performing lighting solution for today's general office, retail, and warehouse settings.

Advance, a leading ballast manufacturer based in Rosemont, Illinois, offers a full line of electronic and magnetic fluorescent and magnetic and electronic HID ballasts as well as a broad family of drivers for LED light sources.
