Flow Technology Announces EL 2400 Series of Electromagnetic Flow Meters

New meter represents state-of-the-art for accurate sanitary flow measurement

TEMPE, Ariz., July 17, 2007 -- Flow Technology, Inc. (FTI), a leading manufacturer of precision flow measurement instruments, systems and calibrators, today announced the introduction of the Extended Linearity (EL) 2400 Series of electromagnetic flow meters. Available in line sizes from one to four inches, these EHEDG-approved meters represent the state-of-the-art for accurate sanitary flow measurement in pharmaceutical and food & beverage applications.

The latest in a new line of electromagnetic flow meters, the EL 2400 Series creates a unique electromagnetic field profile ensuring accuracy not only in turbulent flow, but also during the transitional and laminar flow regimes.

These compact meters provide extended linearity and a wide measurement range of up to 1000:1 without the aid of linearization software. The EL 2400 has a bi-directional flow capability with no moving parts and no pressure drop.

Flow Technology's vice president of marketing, Ralph Duffill, called the EL 2400 Series "a breakthrough for end users seeking a cost-effective, high performance sanitary flow meter." Duffill said, "The EL 2400 Series provides best-in-class features at a price that is significantly lower than competitive electromagnetic meters. It is designed for high accuracy and reliable operation in the most demanding sanitary environments."

The EL 2400 Series electromagnetic flow meters base their operation on the Faraday Principle, by which a conductor crossing a magnetic field generates a potential. The resultant potential is directly proportional to the flow velocity. The meters are manufactured from 304 stainless steel and internally lined with PTFE. They incorporate a sealed electrode and coil assembly that provides immunity to humidity variation.

The EL 2400 Series electromagnetic flow meters can be supplied with either Tri-Clamp or DIN 11851 end connections. The electrodes in the standard unit are AISI 316L, but the meters are also available with electrodes manufactured from other materials such as Hastelloy or titanium according to the chemical compatibility of the liquid.

Electronics available for the EL 2400 Series consists of a base transmitter with optional panel-mounted display, as well as a multiple output converter with integral display. Electronics can be mounted directly on the flow meter or remotely mounted. When the electronics are remotely mounted, the entire flow meter meets IP 68 suitable for permanent immersion in water up to a depth of 1.5 meters. A batching capability is also provided with MC 308C electronics.
