Electro-Pneumatic Transducer aids EPA requirement compliance.

Press Release Summary:

By limiting supply gas consumption to less than 6 SCFH, Fisher® i2P-100 helps oil and gas production facilities meet EPA emission control and reporting requirements set forth by NSPS for VOCs and NESHAP for oil and natural gas production. Product provides stable, accurate operation in driving pneumatic control valve/actuator assemblies without need for added boosters or positioners. With output shift of <1% of span (tested to ISA S75.13), transducer is suited to direct mounting.

Emerson Introduces Electro-Pneumatic Transducer to Help Oil and Gas Industry Meet EPA Emission Requirements

Fisher® i2P-100 electro-pneumatic transducer limits supply gas consumption to less than 6 SCFH

MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA -- Emerson Process Management has introduced the Fisher brand i2P-100 electro-pneumatic transducer to assist oil and gas production facilities in meeting EPA emission control and reporting requirements.

Equipment and processes at oil and gas well sites face new operating emission limits under the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) for volatile organic compounds and the National Emissions Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for oil and natural gas production.

The emergent EPA emission rule sets limits for pneumatic controllers installed at well sites and other locations within oil and gas facilities. The controllers are automated instruments used to maintain liquid level, pressure, and temperature of production processes and typically are powered by high-pressure natural gas. The controllers release supply gas (including VOCs and methane) intermittently with every valve movement or in many cases continuously as part of their normal operation. Electro-pneumatic transducers are instrumental in feeding the operating natural gas medium to the controllers.

Beginning January 1, 2015, all gas-driven controllers located between the wellhead and the point where gas enters the transmission pipeline will be impacted by the EPA allowable bleed limit of 6 standard cubic feet of gas per hour (SCFH). The Fisher i2P-100 electro-pneumatic transducer provides a maximum, steady state pneumatic output of less than 6 SCFH, which will assist oil and gas facilities in meeting the EPA rule.

The i2P-100 provides stable, accurate operation in driving pneumatic control valve/actuator assemblies without the need for added boosters or positioners. With an exhibited output shift of less than 1 percent of span (tested to ISA S75.13) the transducer proves highly suited to direct mounting, which reduces installation costs by eliminating supplemental tubing.

Exceptional resistance to in-plant corrosive conditions is given by the transducer’s separate housing compartments that isolate electronics from the pneumatic process. The electronics module is encased in a rugged plastic shell while the printed wiring board is conformal coated to prevent corrosion. The isolated electronics and converter modules provide easy replacement in the field for reduced maintenance time and costs.

Estimating the reduced emission level and operating cost for the Fisher i2P-100 is made easy by utilizing the web-based Energy Responsible Tool (http://www.Fisher.com/energyresponsibletool). Complete details on the transducer can be found at http://www.Fisher.com.
