Electrical Power Connectors are EMI filtered.

Press Release Summary:

Delivering RF attenuation, ACARA(TM) Filtered Connectors prevent emission and protect sensitive computers as well as switching and cellular equipment. Units are available in current ratings from 65-100 A in variety of capacitance values from 100-600 nf. They offer EMI suppression to frequencies up to 6 GHz, and insertion loss of less than 100 dB beyond 6 GHz. Positive latch prevents accidental unmating, but allows for immediate power disconnect for emergency service.

EMI Filtered Electrical Power Connectors from Schaffner EMC Reduce Assembly and Installation Costs

Edison, NJ, May 2006 -- Schaffner EMC, a leading provider of EMI/RFI components, EMC instrumentation and test systems, has partnered with Anderson Power Products® to produce a new series of EMI filtered electrical power connectors that reduces the number of components and the labor required for assembly and installation, as well as wire prep and crimping, by up to 80%.

The ACARA(TM) filtered connectors deliver exceptional RF attenuation, preventing RF emission and protecting sensitive computers, as well as switching and cellular equipment. This makes the new series ideal for central office equipment, such as switches, hubs, routers and VOIP equipment, and large enterprise servers. The connectors are also useful in the military, broadcast, testing, solar/wind power and oil exploration industries.

ACARA connectors are available in current ratings from 65 A to 100 A in a variety of capacitance values from 100 nF to 600 nF. They offer excellent EMI suppression to very high frequencies of up to 6 GHz, and the insertion loss is less than 100 db beyond 6 GHz.

A positive latch prevents accidental unmating, but allows for immediate power disconnect for emergency service or repair. Mating and unmating do not require an electrician. Polarized housings only mate one way to prevent reverse polarity. The six-position, user selective key helps prevent unintentional mating of similar ACARA connectors

The male connector, which is attached to the DC cable, is designed for fast error-proof assembly, while the female power connector, installed in the unit, is polarized to the male connector to further reduce the risk of installation error.

An accessory kit with pre-terminated male connectors and a prescribed cable length is available, eliminating the need for the use of tools at the installation site to further reduce installation costs.

The socket contact offers superior electrical performance, hot mating, low insertion forces and high mating durability as well as employs a high conductivity copper alloy and a steel spring. This design provides superior conductivity and precise contact forces.

The insulator and cable clamp are made of PBT UL94V-0, the ground plate is copper alloy with tin plate and the capacitor is wound metalized film. The connectors are
UL-listed and EN-approved. The operating temperature is -25°C to +100°C (-13°F to +212°F). The ambient temperature range is -25°C to +60°C (-13°F to +140°F).

Contact Schaffner for specific pricing. Delivery is stock to six weeks.
