Ridge Tool Company Introduces New Line of Hand Tools for the Electrical Market

Innovative Products Are Integral to Ridge Tool's Focus on the Electrical Market

ELYRIA, OHIO - March 2006 - Ridge Tool Company has recently introduced its new line of RIDGID® electrical hand tools that include hand tools for stripping, cutting and crimping a variety of wire types and gauges. These new RIDGID electrical hand tools offer features that increase end user productivity and ease of use.

The line of ten electrical hand tools include: stranded and solid copper cutters/strippers (Model Nos. 83E and 84E), Romex and solid copper cutters/strippers (Model Nos. 90E and 96E), an all-purpose cutter for Romex, copper and coax (Model No. 81E), a tight space cutter/stripper/crimper kit (Model No. 88E), combination cutter/stripper/crimper tools for copper (Model Nos. 85E and 86E) and coax (Model No. 80E), and a fiber optic cable stripper (Model No. 89E).

The new electrical hand tools feature the RIDG-BACK(TM) cutting blade. This unique staggered blade design reduces hand force up to 50 percent, thus greatly improving ease of use and productivity.

Other features that offer end users improved productivity and comfort include:

A return-spring that enables one-hand opening and closing of the tools.
Ergonomic, cushion-grip handles that allow easy and comfortable use.
Paint-filled tool graphics, rather than industry-standard pad-stamped graphics, that provide quick and long-lasting identification of all tool functions.
Application markings clearly indicated on the handle, allowing for quick identification of the proper tool.

RIDGID electrical hand tools also offer versatility for electrical and other contractors. In addition to the primary cutting, stripping and crimping stations for copper, Romex, coax and fiber optic cable, the new electrical tools include steel wire shears and bolt cutting stations that can be used on a variety of wire types and sizes. Many of the tools have holes for users to quickly loop wire for faster installations.

Made of high carbon, heat-treated steel, the new electrical hand tools provide long product life. Like all RIDGID products, the electrical hand tools are backed by the RIDGID lifetime warranty.

"The RIDGID line of electrical hand tools is diverse and can be used on a variety of applications and materials," said Rick Barone, product manager, Ridge Tool Company. "We used our extensive knowledge of hand tools and significant contractor research to develop tools for the electrical market. The RIDG-BACK cutting blade is a significant innovation that contractors will appreciate."

RIDGID has been a trusted name in the electrical market for many years. Electrical contractors already use RIDGID benders, threading machines, hole saws and other hole making tools, pipe and tubing cutters, and a variety of other preparation tools.

"We are committed to growing our presence in the electrical market. We will continue to develop additional, innovative features such as the RIDG-BACK cutting blade for this large, growing market," said Barone.
