DeWalt Introduces Electric-Wheeled Portable Compressors

Providing Increased Durability, Performance, Ease of Use

-- New Product Launch Part of Larger DEWALT Initiative to Target Residential Contractors --

February 2008 - DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, announced the launch of its new heavy-duty electric-wheeled portable compressors (D55171, D55371, D55394). DEWALT built these units with a new Sealed Lube or low oil consumption pump technology for increased durability. Additionally, each unit has been designed and factory set with higher max tank PSI to provide users with the surge air power and recovery needed to run more nailers. The compressors are ideal for multiple applications, including framing, roofing, remodeling, deck building and trim carpentry. This launch highlights DEWALT's commitment to the residential end user by providing heavy-duty power tools to meet jobsite demands.

Durability
For increased durability, the D55171 and D55371 are equipped with a patented, long-life sealed-lube SL2 pump to ensure long, trouble-free operation. The pump delivers long life and allows for sufficient lubrication without the use of oil. The D55394 uses the DEWALT-designed cast iron W-pump that features three-piece oil control rings that reduce the amount of oil consumed throughout the unit. The pumps on all three units are exclusive designs created by DEWALT from the ground up, which allow the compressors to run more efficiently. Additionally, a forced air cooling system on the D55394 enables the pump to operate 100 degrees cooler than previous models. Each unit is equipped with a unique roll cage designed to protect the main components of the unit from jobsite wear and tear.

Performance
For increased performance and higher pressure, the 1.6 HP D55171 and D55371 compressors operate at 175 MAX PSI and 4.6 scfm @100 PSI. Additionally, the compressors have an operational noise level of 74 dBA, which creates a quieter work environment. The D55394 has a 4HP motor and provides 150 MAX PSI and 10.5 scfm @100 PSI.

Ease of Use
The D55171 is designed with start/stop operation, while the D55371 and D55394 use a dual control feature that allows users to easily start, stop or consistently run the unit. Additionally, the compressors have 12" semi-pneumatic tires that are puncture-resistant and ideal for jobsite mobility. A one-hand push/pull handle also improves jobsite mobility.

In conjunction with the electric compressor launch, DEWALT is launching a new line of gas compressors and pneumatic framing nailers in February 2008. Both the nailers and compressors are designed to improve productivity and performance on the jobsite and mark DEWALT's commitment to the residential construction industry.
