April 15, 2009 - Providing 60 x 60 x 60 in. workspace, No. 837 is equipped with 180 kW nickel chrome wire coils supported by stainless steel framework, and rear wall-mounted, heat-resisting alloy recirculating fan, powered by 25 hp motor with V-belt drive and water-cooled bearings. Eight inch thick insulated walls comprise 3 in. of 2,300°F ceramic fiber and 5 in. block insulation, while 7 in. floor insulation is made from 5 in. of 2,300°F firebrick and 2 in. of block insulation.

1450° F Electric Tempering Furnace


No. 837 is a 1450°F electrically-heated tempering furnace from Grieve, currently used for pre-heating prior to welding and various post-welding heat treatments, at a customer's facility.

Workspace dimensions of this furnace measure 60" wide x 60" deep x 60" high. 180KW installed in nickel chrome wire coils, supported by a stainless steel framework, provide heat to the load. A rear wall-mounted, heat-resisting alloy recirculating fan, powered by a 25-HP motor with V-belt drive and water-cooled bearings, is also on-board this unit.

8" thick insulated walls comprise 3" of 2300°F ceramic fiber and 5" block insulation, while 7" floor insulation is made from 5" of 2300°F firebrick and 2" of block insulation. No. 837 features an air-operated vertical lift door, as well as numerous safety and control components, including a programming and recording temperature recorder, SCR power controller, manual reset excess temperature controller with separate contactors and a recirculating blower airflow safety switch.
