Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A. Introduces New Line of Electric Reach Trucks

IRVINE, Calif. (April 19, 2004) - Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc. (TMHU), the leading lift truck supplier in the United States, today introduced its new 7-Series Electric Reach Trucks. The line includes single reach, double reach and straddle trucks, which are available in 3,000 lb. to 5,000 lb. capacities. Toyota has incorporated technological advancements and ergonomic enhancements in this new line of reach trucks to maximize productivity, performance and operator comfort in a wide range of applications.

These high-performance reach trucks feature a multifunction control handle to simplify operation and electronic power steering for precise maneuverability in confined work environments where space is at a premium. The technology and performance of Toyota's new line of reach trucks make them a reliable and cost-effective solution for a variety of applications including retail operations, general warehousing and storage.

"With our new 7-Series Electric Reach Trucks, we have concentrated on two key factors that affect productivity: technology and comfort," said Cesar Jimenez, electric product planning manager at TMHU. "Superior technology means these trucks perform consistently and dependably at a high through-put level. Industry-leading ergonomic features provide the comfort and support that operators require to maximize their efforts with a minimum amount of fatigue during each work shift."

Advanced Engineering

The new line of 7-Series Electric Reach Trucks incorporates the latest in industry-leading technology to enhance performance and handling. The SepEx(TM) (separately excited) drive motor delivers precise speed and torque control, while the Toyota Advanced Control System (TACS) improves operator efficiency by allowing smooth speed control for accurate truck positioning and placement. TACS also enables the unit to be customized to meet the needs of different work environments and operator skill levels. The digital display informs the operator of essential operating information such as battery discharge. It also comes equipped with a built-in analyzer with self-diagnostics to simplify troubleshooting and maximize uptime.

Enhanced Ergonomics

Recognizing the importance of operator comfort, the new 7-Series Electric Reach Trucks are designed to support correct body positioning and minimize fatigue. The multifunction control handle allows for simplified operation with single-handed control of travel, lift/lower, tilt, reach/retract and optional sideshifter. A spacious operator compartment is designed for a true flexible sidestance position to maximize operator comfort when traveling either in forward or reverse. An ERGOMAT® floor pad helps absorb floor vibrations to minimize foot and ankle fatigue, and lean points such as the backrest and armrest are cushioned to improve comfort and productivity.
