December 18, 2009 - Designed for use with all heating gases, Saia® Motor EGD 402 Gas Tight Motor and EGD 421 Fail Safe Gas Tight Motors are certified to Gas Appliances Directive 90/396/EEC to perform fail safe gas flow modulation and closing functions. They deliver 500,000 min operating cycles at 25-200 Hz in temperatures of -15 to +85°C. Available with 12 or 24 V unipolar coil, motors offer 10 or 15 mm travel and 21 or 42 μm step resolution; 240 or 720 steps.

New Gas Tight and Fail Safe Motors Engineered for Use with All Types of Heating Gases


VANDALIA, OH - Johnson Electric introduces Saia® Motor EGD 402 Gas Tight Motors and EGD 421 Fail Safe Gas Tight Motors. Designed specifically for use with all types of heating gases, EGD series motors are certified according to Gas Appliances Directive 90/396/EEC to perform fail safe gas flow modulation and closing functions, and include a mechanical safety return feature. As a result, they are ideally suited for use in direct or indirect fire/HVAC equipment, commercial or residential furnaces, or gas valve applications.

With Class B insulation and a stainless steel tube between the stator and the rotor, these gas sealed motors are built for robust, reliable operation. They are rated to deliver a minimum of 500,000 operating cycles, at operating frequencies of 25 to 200 Hz, in temperatures ranging from -15 to +85°C. These motors are available with a 12 or 24 V unipolar coil (bipolar available), deliver 10 or 15 mm travel, and provide 21 or 42 μm step resolution; 240 or 720 steps. Integrated safety functionality provides closing time ≤1 second.
