MINNEAPOLIS - August 2, 2006 - SoftBrands Inc. Fourth Shift Edition version 8.4 includes support for SAP Business One 2005 SP01, which gives manufacturers expanded support for international trade, improved reporting functionality and an enhanced software development kit for tailoring the system to fit vertical market needs. Version 8.4 also includes support for multiple databases within a single installation of Fourth Shift Edition, allowing easy access to multi-company databases from any workstation.
To further support SoftBrands' globalization strategy, version 8.4 of Fourth Shift Edition includes drop-in language functionality. This allows for additional languages to be added to a Fourth Shift Edition installation at any time, without the need to install a particular version of the software. A U.S.-based manufacturer with facilities in Germany and China, for example, can support those countries' native languages by dropping in the German and Mandarin language translations.
