SoftBrands Releases Fourth Shift Edition for SAP® Business One Version 8.4
Manufacturing ERP system supports SAP Business One 2005 SP01 and includes multi-company and drop-in language support
MINNEAPOLIS - August 2, 2006 - SoftBrands Inc. (AMEX: SBN), a global supplier of enterprise application software, today released version 8.4 of its Fourth Shift Edition for SAP® Business One, an SAP-centric ERP system designed specifically for small and midsize manufacturers. SoftBrands is an independent software vendor partner of SAP America, Inc.
Fourth Shift Edition version 8.4 includes support for SAP Business One 2005 SP01, which gives manufacturers expanded support for international trade, improved reporting functionality and an enhanced software development kit for tailoring the system to fit vertical market needs. Version 8.4 also includes support for multiple databases within a single installation of Fourth Shift Edition, allowing easy access to multi-company databases from any workstation.
To further support SoftBrands' globalization strategy, version 8.4 of Fourth Shift Edition includes drop-in language functionality. This allows for additional languages to be added to a Fourth Shift Edition installation at any time, without the need to install a particular version of the software. A U.S.-based manufacturer with facilities in Germany and China, for example, can support those countries' native languages by dropping in the German and Mandarin language translations.
"The drop-in language support makes life easier for the many manufacturers that are engaged in global commerce," said Diane Palmquist, SoftBrands' vice president for SAP products. "Our users aren't bound by our pre-translated language packs. If a company needs Russian, the code and displays can be translated and dropped right into an existing FSE installation."
Fourth Shift Edition provides small and midsize manufacturers with an affordable, easy-to-use ERP system that offers the best of both SoftBrands and SAP in a flexible, scalable system. Fourth Shift Edition is targeted to meet the specific needs of manufacturers in these sectors: food and beverages, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, rubber and plastics, medical devices, semiconductors, industrial machinery, and electronics.
