WOBURN, MA, October 15, 2008 - Parker Hannifin Corporation, the global leader in motion and control technologies, announced the introduction of a very soft molded elastomer EMI shielding gasket, consisting of silver plated copper particles dispersed within a silicone elastomer. At typically 35 ± 5 Shore A durometer hardness and a low 9% compression set, CHO-SEAL® 1270 is ideal for applications where superior mechanical performance, excellent electrical conductivity, and long term stability are required such as in handheld electronics, infotainment systems, test equipment, military electronics, navigation devices, ruggedized computers and routers.
According to Product Manager Robert Foster, "This CHO-SHIELD® elastomer material provides our customers with added design flexibility. As one of the softest molded EMI shielding materials available, it offers the benefits of superior electrical and mechanical properties, lower compression set and reduced assembly costs as compared with higher hardness shielding materials."
CHO-SEAL® 1270 offers shielding effectiveness greater than 70dB from 100 MHz through 10 GHz. It is available in various product forms including compression molded sheets, die-cut parts and custom molded shapes with available thicknesses ranging from 0.010 - 0.125 in. (0.25 - 3.18 mm).
