Avantis Introduces Microsoft .NET Connected Global Enterprise Asset Management Solution at National Manufacturing Week

Avantis.PRO Release 4.0 combines comprehensive asset management functionality with Microsoft-based technologies to deliver unparalleled asset intelligence

CHICAGO, USA (National Manufacturing Week) – Feb. 23, 2004 –– Avantis, a unit of Invensys, today announced its Global Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution for delivering critical decision support information across the enterprise. Avantis Release 4.0 enables enhanced asset management capability for enterprises that span multiple locations and geographies, supporting business units that operate both autonomously and collaboratively within the global enterprise. Avantis continues to provide its superior asset management functionality with easy-to-use applications that have become their trademark.
Consolidated operations and maintenance business intelligence over the entire enterprise enables significant efficiencies and cost savings in the areas of maintenance, inventory, procurement and invoicing. Customers can leverage a consolidated, enterprise-wide view of performance and spending in a single solution.

Avantis Release 4.0 offers the rich user interface and functional depth of traditional client-server desktop solutions with the low-cost deployment of Web applications. Avantis’ thin client applications are tested through the Microsoft .NET Connected logo program, which identifies software applications and solutions built on the .NET Framework that expose or consume Web services, and provide the enhanced reliability, scalability, performance and security of Microsoft .NET.

“This represents the beginning of a product evolution to further exploit the technical expertise and solutions from the strategic partnership between Invensys and Microsoft”, comments Marianne Mandris, product manager for Avantis. “By taking advantage of Microsoft technology, we did not have to compromise ease of use or functionality in our Web applications, which is unique in this industry.”

“Enterprise asset management is a critical issue for global businesses given how fast markets move and economies change,” said Don Richardson, director, manufacturing industry solutions at Microsoft. “By taking advantage of .NET, partners like Avantis can take the complexity out of the equation, allowing customers to effectively manage their assets and do so through real-time communication.”

“This is clearly a re-architected offering from Avantis, and we were able to easily upgrade from two releases back,” said Jim Camacci, manager of information technology at Molycorp, Mountain Pass, Calif., a long-time Avantis customer. “In the past, Avantis has helped us to achieve continuous improvements, and we look forward to the future benefits we will derive from this upgrade offering.”

”The Avantis Global Enterprise Edition represents the continued commitment of Invensys to provide our clients with the products and services to enable world-class enterprise asset management strategies. Most importantly, we’ve provided our loyal customers a path forward, no one gets left behind,” said Ryan Roberts, vice president of Avantis. “Our re-architected Global Enterprise Edition positions us to deliver on our asset performance strategy to meet the diverse need of our customers.”
Avantis will demonstrate the power and flexibility of the Global Enterprise Edition Feb. 23 – 26 at the Microsoft booth (No. 4811) at National Manufacturing Week, McCormick Place.
The Global Enterprise Edition is available immediately and is delivered to customers currently under an annual support agreement at no charge.
