New MailFRAME Features Help IT Departments Address Impacts of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
MPC's e-mail archival appliance now supports Microsoft Exchange 2007 and iSCSI SAN
NAMPA, Idaho, Oct. 9 /- MPC Computers, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MPC Corporation (AMEX:MPZ), today announced the latest version of its e-mail archival appliance, MailFRAME. The new version of MailFRAME (www.mpccorp.com/commercial/sto...), which was first introduced a year ago, now offers enhancements for archiving messages from Exchange 2007 servers as well as messages from previous versions of Exchange and other messaging platforms.
In addition to supporting Exchange 2007, MailFRAME now supports the iSCSI protocol, enabling any iSCSI storage device to be used for e-mail archival. Adding iSCSI to MailFRAME's other supported storage protocols, CIFS and NFS, means that MailFRAME customers can maximize existing investments in older storage solutions, as well as implement advanced back-end storage capabilities such as dynamic storage-pool allocation and disaster recovery.
MPC believes these latest enhancements will further strengthen MailFRAME's ability to meet the challenges imposed on IT organizations across MPC's professional computing market segments as a result of new Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) regulations.
"We can now offer our customers a simple-to-deploy, integrated solution by combining MailFRAME with our DataFRAME 2112 SAN appliance," said Greg Wolf, MPC's area vice president of product and services marketing. "This combination provides the flexibility and scalability that customers have told us they want for long-term e-mail retention, and makes MailFRAME an even more credible option for helping IT organizations meet the archival demands resulting from FRCP regulations affecting e-mail."
Initial Deployment
The first deployment of MailFRAME supporting Exchange 2007 and iSCSI SAN took place at New Trier High School District, just north of Chicago. Network Manager Jeremy Boscacci (http://mpcperiscope.wordpress.com/2008/10/07/when- the-game-changes-txtbook-takes-off/) selected MailFRAME after reviewing software and offsite service options for implementing an e-mail archival solution that would meet the FRCP imperatives.
"MailFRAME was one of the simplest appliances we've ever installed," said Boscacci. "We pulled it out of the box, made configuration changes, and were up and running in two hours. We now feel that we're covered from all legal standpoints. We like the fact that the appliance can work on any platform in the school district, and the playback functionality is tremendous. MailFRAME proves that e-mail archival doesn't have to be difficult or costly to be reliable."
