High Efficiency Cyclone Dust Collectors Now Available with Continuous Material Discharge

Sternvent has broadened its line of high efficiency dust collectors to now include a motorized rotary airlock discharge, for operations that produce large volumes of waste particles, such as wood planing or shaping, pencil manufacturing, plastic machining, aluminum cutting or rubber grinding.

The airlock provides both the necessary airtight seal at the bottom of the cyclone and a continuous discharge of the particulate that the cyclone has separated from the air stream. Airlocks are similar in concept to revolving office building entrance doors, but much smaller and with a horizontal axis. They range in size from 8" to 14" diameter, are typically powered by a 2 HP motor and are available in either cast iron or welded steel construction, depending on the application. Sternvent offers a remote motor controller, that includes pilot lights and a delay timer, that allows the airlock to remain on for 30 seconds after the blower is off, so that the particulate can be conveyed out of the ducts and cyclone.

The cyclones, which are available for 1,000-10,000 CFM (2-60 HP), have long been the workhorse of dust collection systems that handle high volumes of particulate. In some systems, the cyclone stands alone, while for some applications, it is followed by shaker or pulse jet cleaned filters.

Established in 1952, Sternvent specializes in small to medium size industrial dust collectors (1,000-15,000 CFM) which include high efficiency cyclones, compact shaker units with manual or motorized shaker, Jet-Pulse bag and cartridge units, and oil mist collectors used in the woodworking, metalworking, and chemical industries. Equipment is available with basic modifications such as special filter media, alternate blower, special height dust containers, and special construction such as stainless steel.
