Original Press Release:

New Quick-Change Multi-Bag Duplex Filter for Continuous and Batch Process Applications

Hayward Industrial Products, Inc. has designed and developed a new, 12 filter bag, duplex filter for use in filtration applications where the system flow cannot be shut down for filter bag change out. These applications include batch and continuous process in water treatment, chemical process, automotive, paint, pharmaceutical, petrochemical and electronics industries among others.

This new duplex filter from Hayward is designed around two of the company's MAXILINE SE multi-bag filter housings. The two housings, 12 filter bags each, are linked with a butterfly valve control assembly that allows the system operator to switch the flow from one filter housing to the other without the ever shutting off the flow. Once the flow is switched it is now possible to change the filter bags in the out-of-service vessel.
A differential pressure gauge tells the operator when it's time for a bag change.

An important consideration in selecting any multi-bag filter is the amount of time and effort required to open and close the housing cover to service the filter bags. This new duplex filter features Hayward's unique QIC-LOCK® cover design. Only with the QIC-LOCK® cover is it possible for system operators to open or close the cover in just 15 seconds. A standard cover with eyebolts can take 10 to 15 minutes to open or close. To open the cover an Interlock is released that vents the vessel. Then by turning the hand wheel, a spindle mechanism opens a V-Clamp. Once the clamp is open the cover can be raised by hand. A spring assist means that only finger tip effort is required to raise and close the cover, no over head hoists or davits are needed.

Each MAXILINE Duplex Filter is designed in conjunction with the customer to meet his specific requirements. Multi-bag duplex filters are available in sizes from 3 filter bags per filter all the way up to a huge 36 bag filter. Customers have a choice of carbon steel or stainless steel construction and can have the filter designed to their exact specifications no matter how complex.
