NIBCO Offers Alternative to Class 150 High Performance Butterfly Valves

ELKHART, Ind. -- (July 21, 2008) - NIBCO INC. announces the 285 PSI ductile iron butterfly valve, which is the newest addition to its commercial/industrial line of butterfly valves. Strength and durability are key features making this valve a viable alternative to high performance butterfly valves in non-steam applications, and it is a cost effective choice where specifications allow substitutions.

The ductile iron body of the new 285 PSI butterfly valve has more than twice the strength of cast iron and is on par with cast steel. This equates to higher durability and impact resistance. With sizes ranging from 2" through 12", there are numerous applications including HVAC (condensers, chilled water, hot water heating), domestic hot and cold water, isolation and throttling. This valve cannot be used for air service.

The 285 PSI ductile iron butterfly valve features stainless steel trim with an EPDM molded-in liner, providing excellent bi-directional dead end service. Both the wafer-style (WD 5022) and lug-style (LD 5022) are available as bare-stem, lever-operated or manual gear-operated valves.

Other features of NIBCO's 285 PSI ductile iron butterfly valve include:
- Threaded collar bushing, providing blow-out proof stem and secondary stem seal.
- Extended neck allows for 2" of insulation below mounting pad.
- Molded-in liner has overlapping coverage to provide flange seals which are fully supported by metal; stabilizing upper and lower bushings.
- One-piece high strength solid stem (geometric drive) provides superior stem alignment for smooth operation. Smaller diameter aides in more streamlined flow. Requires no fasteners in the wetted area.
