Union Process Produces Custom SD-100 Attritor

Akron, Ohio . . . . Union Process recently produced a custom dry grinding Attritor, designed and built to meet the specific needs of one of its customers. Union Process, known globally as a manufacturer of grinding and dispersing equipment as well as related services, manufactures Attritors and small media mills for a broad range of industrial applications.

As a manufacturer of ceramic products, the customer needed to grind ceramic materials, specifically alumina and zirconium, in a metal-free environment. After reviewing and analyzing the customer's specifications and requirements, Union Process recommended a dry grinding SD-100 Attritor to achieve the desired end product.

The SD-100 Attritor is versatile and easy to maintain. To maximize efficiency for this specific application, the mill was automated to run in batch mode with pneumatically operated discharge valves. Featuring a gross tank capacity of 155 gallons, the custom SD-100 was equipped with tungsten carbide sleeved arms and a ceramic-lined tank to provide a complete metal-free system. The SD-100 Attritors are produced with motors from 60-125 HP depending on the application.
