GE's New Fast-Installing AF-600 FP(TM) Panel for Fan and Pump Applications Boosts Intuitiveness, Efficiency
PLAINVILLE, CT - The new energy-efficient AF-600 FP(TM) Panel for fan and pump applications from GE Consumer & Industrial's Electrical Distribution business-ideal for HVAC solutions and optimized for a range of variable torque applications, such as fans, compressors and pumps-gives specifiers, consultants and electrical contractors creating solutions for offices, schools, universities, hospitals and retail customers three reasons to cheer: fast and easy installation, more intuitive controls and energy efficiency gains.
Available with up to 300 horsepower (HP), yet small and easy to mount in a control panel, the AF-600 FP(tm) Panel delivers built-in features and a simplicity that eases installation (five minute or less control set up) while boosting energy savings 5 to 15 percent at partial loads. "In general, drives replace traditional mechanical flow control devices such as dampers, inlet guide vanes and control valves to provide energy savings," says Daniel Nakano, product manager, GE Consumer & Industrial. "The AF-600 FP Panel incorporates ease of installation and built-in features that are unique to this GE solution."
The AF-600 FP Panel builds in:
o DC link reactors with low harmonic emission: THID <48 percent delivers full output voltage with no voltage drop, fulfills EN 61000-3-2/3-12, and boasts displacement power factor (cos f ( 1) and true power factor of 0.9;
o Quick setup, often less than five minutes, using a hot-pluggable LCD display and keypad;
o Easy installation with space-saving slimline enclosures and 'C' channel mounting;
o Self protecting features such as a 110 percent overload for one minute;
o Energy monitoring and reporting, via easy-to-use DCT-10 PC software with USB, RS485 or Fieldbus communication, offer payback analysis;
o Fieldbus with built-in Modbus RTU, Metasys N2, Apogee FLN P1;
o Logic Controller, with built-in sequencer that can eliminate the need for PLCs or timers, is easy to learn, program and debug; and
o Reduced interference from RFI filter.
Installation versatility, control empowerment
GE's full range of enclosed drives provides a one-stop source for contractor drive needs, including: 2 to 75 HP at 208VAC, 2 to 300 HP at 460VAC and 1 to 15 HP at 575VAC. Three enclosures are available: Slimline Type 1 up to 75 HP makes it easier for the contractor to install in tight spaces; Traditional Type 1 from 75 to 300 HP; and Traditional Type 12 ventilated from 2 to 300 HP. Three available configurations include: Drive-disconnect bypass; Drive +2 contractor bypass, and Drive +3 contactor bypass. N2 and P1 communications protocols are built-in and Bacnet, Ethernet and Lonworks are optional.
The AF-600 FP Panel incorporates contactors, switches, pilot lights and drive bypass functionality to allow an electrical contractor to purchase one unit from GE for installation in a variety of commercial applications. Designed to run applications "out of the box," it serves all types of fans (HVAC, cooling towers, VAV, supply and return, exhaust, fume hood, make-up air, induced and forced draft, and furnace temperature control) and pumps (chilled water, pressure boosting, cooling tower, wastewater, chiller, irrigation, and hydro-storage).
The AF-600's removable keypad, common to all AF-6 Series drives, handles all programming and information. The keypad "info" key provides full-text, context-sensitive information to make programming easier and potentially eliminate the need for printed manuals. In most cases, start-up can be completed in less than five minutes. Using the hot pluggable feature, operators can set up one drive and then copy the setting to other drives, eliminating the need for duplicate programming. The Quick Menu provides access to all the basic settings and the controller. The illuminated LCD display shows parameters and their values, unit indications, rotation direction indications, set-up indication, custom user displays, trend charts with speed, torque and current, and full alarm messages and descriptions.
The AF-600, offering a 12/18-month limited warranty, complies with major standards UL and cUL.
