September 6, 2002 - Column-type, 3-axis system drills holes from 0.500 to 4.000 in. dia, in depths up to 60 in., using BTA tooling. It provides 48 in. x-axis table travel and 36 in. y-axis drill headstock movement. CNC control system monitors cutting tools for torque and feed thrust, and locates holes on irregular-shaped workpieces using Renishaw probe. Coolant is filtered to 10 microns and provided to drills at up to 120 gpm at 1,000 psi.

TechniDrill Introduces 3-Axis, Large Diameter BTA Deep Hole Drilling System
Kent, OH: TechniDrill Systems, Inc., a global manufacturer of gun drill, BTA, and ejector drill systems, has recently introduced a unique 3-axis, large diameter BTA system.
This 3-axis column-type machine offers a drilling range from .500" to 4.000" in diameter, with an effective hole depth range up to 60" using BTA tooling. Designed as a heavy-duty system, this BTA unit provides 48" "X" table travel and 36" "Y" drill headstock movement.
The CNC control system provides complete monitoring of the drilling process and machine diagnostics. The cutting tools are monitored for both torque and feed thrust. In addition, hole locations are quickly and accurately located even on irregular-shaped workpieces using a Renishaw probe.
The coolant system is fully monitored by the machine's controls and coolant is provided to the drills at up to 120 gallons per minute at 1,000 psi. Coolant temperature is pre-selected and controlled with a refrigeration unit. The filtration system filters coolant to 10 microns. Chips are removed using a built-in chip conveyor.
