Ricoh Launches Globalscan(TM) NX Solutions


(TM)New GlobalScan Systems Streamline Document Sharing and Accelerate Business Processes

West Caldwell, N.J., November 25, 2008 - Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced new additions to the Ricoh GlobalScan(TM) suite of document capture and routing solutions. Designed for businesses of any size, GlobalScan NX Office Edition and GlobalScan NX Serverless allow small-and-medium sized organizations to effectively manage document workflows to fulfill their respective business processes.

A complement to the GlobalScan Workflow Suite 3.1, the GlobalScan NX Office Edition offers small-and-medium sized businesses (SMBs) enterprise level document management capabilities. Converting paper documents to electronic files and routing them to various destinations is now an easy task for the SMB market. Whether the document is an invoice, purchase order, bill or other important record, users can capture it through scanning, distribute it to an email inbox or fax number, or file it directly to network folders or archives right from Ricoh's Aficio multifunction products (MFPs). These features allow SMB single and branch offices to streamline communications and document sharing. In turn, businesses reduce distribution costs and manual processes and employees can use the time saved to focus on core competencies.

GlobalScan NX Office Edition and GlobalScan NX Serverless also offer user-friendly, icon-based interfaces that businesses can customize with simple point-and-click configuration tools. For instance, users can easily drag and drop icons to create pre-defined fields for capturing metadata or they can access preset formatting and embedded indexing data, which affords faster search and retrieval capabilities. When paired, GlobalScan NX Serverless, which runs on networked MFPs without reliance on a server, expands GlobalScan NX Office Edition's ability to exist in a range of IT environments and reduces total cost of ownership.

Both the server and serverless GlobalScan NX Office Edition systems offer several network authentication protocol capabilities such as LDAP, NT, and Kerberos Authentication supported by GlobalScan NX Office Edition only, creating document security for business environments. Furthermore, Ricoh's optional Card Authentication Package solution for single sign-on offers the ability to control access to restricted features.

An extended feature of the GlobalScan NX Office Edition and GlobalScan NX Serverless systems are GlobalScan NX Templates. Accessible online, SMBs can customize these application templates to address the needs and requirements of specific industry or business tasks, including Human Resources, Accounts Payable/Receivable, etc., and expedite business processes.
