Duplo Introduces the New DC-615 Extending Its Range of Digital Color Document Finishers

Duplo USA has extended the range of its successful Digital Color Document Finishers, with the introduction of the new DC-615. Developed specifically to meet the increasing demands of shorter run digital color print, the versatile DC-615 provides a multi-functional finishing solution in one compact, easy-to-use package. Slitting, cutting and creasing digitally printed sheets in one pass, the DC-615 delivers efficient output with minimum operator intervention, resulting in a reduction of waste and production costs.

Replacing the popular DC-545HCEX model, the new DC-615 is being offered at a lower base-model price and can then be customized to each owner's individual needs to include optional modules never before offered for the previous DC-545HCEX such as ultra-sonic double detection, Job Creator software, and a business card stacker. Capable of handling heavier substrates up to 300 gsm and a wide variety of sheet sizes, the DC-615 is ideal for business cards, postcards, greeting cards, photo books, and much more. The higher volume DC-645 Production Color Finisher remains as a next-level option for those customers who require a higher duty cycle, heavier substrates, and larger sheet sizes.

Comments Si Nguyen, product marketing manager at Duplo USA: "There has been a significant increase in the number of printers producing medium volume digital color print and we are aware that they needed a versatile finishing solution to meet their needs. We have also seen greater demand for a compact, multi-functional digital finishing solution in the photo book market and the DC-615 is just the right product to handle the finishing requirements for this growing sector."

In addition to delivering an accurate, professional finish the DC-615 has a large operator screen which allows the operator to quickly access and review up to 80 memorized jobs at the touch of a button without having to re-enter any information. An option that has proven very popular with users of the DC-645 is the user-friendly Job Creator software which allows even untrained staff to easily set-up a job via a PC or Mac.

The DC-615 comes equipped with standard features such as image skew adjustment and adjustable creasing depth. Six slitting tools, one knife, and one creaser are also joined in this model by a new 'air-knife' designed to overcome static, improve feeding and reduce image marking on delicate stock. Additional new features incorporated in the DC-615 include a mechanism which is automatically positioned to deliver waste from gutter cuts directly into the waste bin instead of out on the delivery tray which helps to reduce paper jams and operator cleaning tasks. The receiving tray is also easily adjusted to allow for neat stacking of small items such as business cards or postcards.

Optional features for the DC-615 include a CCD scanner and ultrasonic double feed detector. The CCD recognizes the true position of the image on the sheet to compensate for image shifting and can also recognize the job by reading a barcode and will then upload the correct settings from memory and process the sheet to the intended finish without operator intervention. The ultrasonic double feed detector reduces waste by detecting any double feeding and automatically stops the machine and displays an error message.

Continues Si Nguyen: "The DC-615 is the ideal machine for printers who don't have the budget or space for the DC-645. Its compact multi-function design and uncomplicated operation means that it's a perfect solution for printers looking for a versatile finishing system that allows them to expand the possible applications they can offer to their customers."
