Shore® Instruments Offers Its S1 Digital Durometer

Accurate and Dependable Hardness Testing Solution

Shore® Instruments, an Instron company and the originator of the Shore Durometer, offers its S1 Durometer, which is ideally suited for hardness testing of rubber and plastic.

One of the many features of the S1 Durometer is the ability to set a test dwell time from one to twenty-five seconds. A unique audible system tells the operator when the time is complete, ensuring that the test forces are applied for the same amount of time during each test, significantly reducing operator errors due to inconsistent dwell times. A tolerance audible alarm can also be set to easily identify parts that are out of the acceptable hardness range.

Shore's S1 Durometer can be used in place of many durometers because of its modular design, which is comprised of a digital display head and detachable presser foot probe that facilitates changing test scales. A common display unit can be used to test in any of the standard Shore scales by simply changing presser foot probes. To guarantee accurate and precise test measurements, results are displayed on a high contrast LCD either as a single test or the average of several tests, omitting the need for operator calculations. The S1 Durometer stores 256 test results and can automatically send all results to a PC via a RS232 connection.
