Pronto2K: Multi-Functional Digital Disk Recorder from DVS
New DDR for uncompressed SD to 2K / real-time processing with a newly designed user interface
Pronto2K - the multi-functional digital disk recorder for uncom-pressed SD, HD and 2K (2048x1556) premieres at NAB 2004. With its newly designed user interface and operating under the Windows file system, the new DVS DDR is ideal for any number of applica-tions in post production. Whether for capturing high-resolution data, storage, color correction or play-out - Pronto2k supports each phase of the digital intermediate process. Several Pronto2K sys-tems, connected to a SAN storage, offer multiple users concurrent data access in real time.
The new DVS disk recorder provides all storage requirements of the modern post house. Pronto2K stores video data directly as BMP, YUV, TIFF, TGA, Cineon® or DPX. For audio storage, AIFF and WAV are available. Time-consuming import and export, required by proprietary systems, is unnecessary. The disk recorder processes all popular formats and resolutions in real time, for example: NTSC and PAL, 720p, 1080i and film (2048x1556 Pixel) in RGB 10 bit. In addition Pronto2K offers the possibility to store meta-data in the header, enabling time-code storage, for example. Every format and resolution is available on one partition; further partitioning is unnecessary. With a storage capacity up to 3,200 GB, the disk recorder achieves data transfer rates of up to 306 MB/sec.
The user can operate his standard application software on the Pronto2K platform. The disk recorder has, of course, gigabit Ethernet as standard, al-lowing system clients direct access to the high-resolution data. With the RS.422 interface, Pronto2K can control external VTRs frame accurately or be controlled as a slave by edit controllers or color graders. The integrated mixer allows split screen color comparisons between the stored data and the incoming video signal.
Using several Pronto2K disk recorders with FC interfaces in a SAN environ-ment, users can enjoy shared real-time access of the stored data. A work-flow that used to be carried out serially, can now be made parallel. As the data is processed natively in high-resolution, the "virtual telecine" can save huge amounts of time and money.
