Diffractive Beam Splitter provides 95% efficiency.

Press Release Summary:

Featuring continuous profile, Diffractive Beam Splitter eliminates undesirable ghost beam effects, enabling efficiency of 95-97%. Large beam angles are possible, depending on design of beam splitter, and split beams can be focused by means of optional lenses. Available in materials such as fused silica or CaF2, splitter is most suitable for solid-state lasers with wavelength of 355, 532, and 1,064 nm.

Successfully Demonstrated: LIMO's Diffractive Beam Splitter with Highest Efficiency of 95 %

LIMO starts the new year with expansion of its product portfolio with diffractive beam splitter. Unlike the conventional binary diffractive optical elements (DOE), the LIMO beam splitter has a continuous profile. This property has the advantage that undesirable ghost beam effects do not appear. The result is a very high diffractive efficiency of 95 - 97% that LIMO already successfully demonstrated.

Depending on the design of the beam splitter, large beam angles are possible. Additionally the split beams can be focused by means of optional lenses. Furthermore the properties of the profile have an impact on the amount of intensity variation between the spots which is smaller than +/- 5%.

LIMO delivers customized beam splitters consisting of different materials like fused silica or CaF2 for high power and UV applications. The LIMO beam splitter is most suitable for the widely used solid-state lasers with a wavelength of 355 nm, 532 nm and 1064 nm. Especially in the precise laser materials processing (e.g. surface structuring, sawing, cutting, perforation) the beam splitter is often required due to the splitting into several identical spots.

At the Photonics West 2011 (South Hall, booth #601), you will have the opportunity to get to know this product better. For further information please visit our website www.limo.de or contact Klaus Reinecke, k.reinecke@limo.de.
