Die-Sinking EDM integrates numeric controls.

Press Release Summary:

Roboform 350 series employs Dynamic Process Control (DPControl) and is compatible with existing system architectures. All operations are illustrated by graphics, and manuals are provided in HTML documentation. DPControl suggests ideal electrode undersize and rationalizes number of electrodes needed. It also organizes job sequencing according to priority, transmits machining status information to operator via SMS, and creates full reports.

Charmilles Introduces Roboform 350 With New User Interface

Lincolnshire, IL, December 5, 2003 < Geneva-based Charmilles has unveiled the new Roboform 350 series, the first die-sinking EDM to integrate a new generation of numeric controls designed to ease use and improve efficiency.

Based on the findings of a survey of moldmakers, Charmilles has developed interface functions and optimized screen ergonomics to deliver unequalled performance and operator comfort. Called Dynamic Process Control (DPControl), the system has been designed to be directly involved with the manufacturing process.

With interactive graphics and embedded e-documentation, the Roboform 350 series is compatible with existing system architectures since its DPControl is based on a standard Windows platform. System integration eliminates the need for further investments or special training. Already a standard in the industry, user-friendliness has been further enhanced to satisfy the demand for operator convenience.

All operations such as measuring and machining cycles as well as cavity positioning are illustrated by graphics to facilitate intuitive and spontaneous comprehension by the operator. Large, cumbersome manuals are replaced by documentation in electronic format (HTML). When help is needed, the operator presses the F1 key on the keyboard to instantly receive easy-to-understand information about the current function.

DPControl suggests ideal electrode undersize and rationalizes the number of electrodes needed. It communicates with a preset station and organizes job sequencing according to priority. It transmits machining status information to the operator via SMS and creates full reports for job evaluation.
