Davis-Standard Introduces Die Refurbishing Services

Pawcatuck, Conn. - A new die refurbishing service from Davis-Standard, LLC can extend the life of monolayer and coextrusion foam dies. Over time, residue can accumulate in the die channels, affecting the quality of the foam sheet. Channel coatings often need replacement and die lips can become damaged, leading to poor performance and lost revenue. Through regular maintenance and cleaning, a die investment can go a lot further while ensuring high quality foam sheet.

"Refurbishing services can be an effective alternative to purchasing a new die and can be completed with minimum downtime," said Doug Comeau, Davis-Standard's Product Manager-Foam. "This service is designed to give customers worldwide a convenient and cost-effective option to improve performance."

To use the service, customers send the die to Davis-Standard's facility in Pawcatuck, Connecticut. The die is then disassembled, inspected and cleaned. All components are examined for damage and/or wear. The customer is notified of any additional charges prior to work commencing. The die is then re-assembled and sent back to the customer for reinstallation. The objective is to return the die in excellent condition while minimizing any breaks in production.
