DynaVox Technologies Unveils the V and Vmax with InterAACT Communication, Computing, and Support Easier than Ever Before

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 24 /-- DynaVox Technologies today announced the release of the DynaVox V and Vmax speech-generating devices at the Assistive Technology Industry Association's annual conference in Orlando, FL (booths 701 and 1001). Featuring the new InterAACT language framework, the V and Vmax provide individuals of all ages and abilities challenged by significant speech disabilities a system that supports successful and efficient day-to-day communication, as well as language and literacy skill use and development.

The new V and Vmax give speech-language professionals valuable tools that allow them to spend more time helping their clients develop critical communication skills, while presenting augmented communicators with an array of features that make it easy to communicate and be understood in person, by phone or e-mail, or via text messaging.

Features include:
o InterAACT, a clinical research-based language framework that provides ready-made vocabularies for emergent, situational and creative communicators.
o AT&T Natural Voices deliver natural sounding speech-output that is easily understood by listeners.
o Increased audio output and forward firing speakers increase intelligibility in environments with high ambient noise levels.
o Word and phrase prediction, "slots" and "quickfires" enhance rate of communication.
o Drag-n-Drop editing makes it easy to select images, sounds and video from the Internet, a computer or external drive and assign them to pages or buttons.
o User Setup Wizard enables quick customization of preloaded communication page sets.
o Mayer-Johnson's popular Boardmaker(TM) and Speaking Dynamically Pro(R), included on each device, provide a familiar operating environment on a new platform.
o Text messaging capabilities available with Bluetooth-enabled cell phones (purchased separately).
o Send e-mail and text messages from within the Series 5 communication software, or via popular programs such as Microsoft Outlook or Messenger.
o Open architecture allows users to run any Windows XP-compatible software.

With these new features, speech-language professionals will spend less time managing and developing vocabulary, and end users will have a fully integrated device that provides powerful communication and computing.

"The DynaVox V and Vmax, along with InterAACT, are the results of extensive collaboration with speech-language pathologists, augmented communicators and AAC researchers," said Jim Shea, vice president of Marketing at DynaVox. "This collaboration has allowed us to deliver a revolutionary product line that meets the needs of individuals with significant speech disabilities and their care teams in new and exciting ways."

Henry Evans, a stroke survivor, father of four children ranging in age from 10 - 18 and an early DynaVox V user, said, "The world should know the DynaVox V is the best tool for speech I have found, and I have done a lot of looking."
