September 27, 2010 - Actel device converter - DC-AX2000/RTAX2000S-01 allows users to implement commercial Axcelerator® FG896 package during prototyping, and then switch to equivalent CQ352 package for production. Soldered directly onto SMT QFP pads, product is designed to receive AX2000 Actel Axcelerator® Family FPGAs on top and converts pin mapping to RTAX2000S Actel Radiation-Tolerant FPGAs. Unit consists of pin out conversion multilayer PCB with gull-wing lead adapter for SMT processing.

Actel AX2000, 896 Pin BGA Can Be Used on an Existing 352 Position QFP SMT Lands via True Gull-Wing Emulation Adapter


BURNSVILLE, MN - Ironwood Electronics' new Actel device converter - DC- AX2000/RTAX2000S-01 allows customers to use a commercial Axcelerator® FG896 package during prototyping, and then switch to an equivalent CQ352 package for production. These device converters can be soldered directly onto the SMT QFP pads using standard solder methods. The characteristics one should consider when selecting a QFP package emulation adapter are as follows: a) surface mountable - both hand soldering as well as reflow process compatible b) durable c) reduced stress on target board d) true gull-wing lead design and e) access to the leads.

The Ironwood Electronics device converter DC- AX2000/RTAX2000S-01 consists of footprint and pin out conversion multi layer PCB with a true gull-wing lead adapter for SMT processing. The gull-wing leads are constructed with a precise lead frame assembly to accomplish the accurate QFP package emulation. DC- AX2000/RTAX2000S-01 is designed to receive AX2000 Actel Axcelerator® Family FPGAs on the top and converts pin mapping to RTAX2000S Actel Radiation-Tolerant FPGAs. This allows low-cost prototyping methods for the RTAX-S packaged in CQFP or CCGA, using the Axcelerator® family Fine Pitch Ball Grid Array (FBGA) or Ceramic Land Grid Array (LGA) as a prototyping vehicle.
