Paxar Announces Immediate Availability of the New Monarch® 9416â„¢ Desktop Printer

WHITE PLAINS, NY, July 30, 2004--Paxar Corporation (NYSE: PXR), a global leader providing bar code and identification technologies for the retail supply chain and the supplier of Monarch® brand products and services, announced today immediate availability of the latest technology in compact bar code printing. The new Monarch® 9416â„¢ printer, available immediately, provides best in class performance to the user needing to print bar code labels and tags, but without the room for a large printer.

The Monarch 9416 printer is less than seven inches high and nine inches wide, yet prints rapidly at five inches per second. It's the most versatile small printer available, printing labels, tags, receipt paper, or linerless labels. It's loaded with memory, allowing print jobs to go faster, increasing productivity. And, PC software to create formats and print is included. It's the perfect solution for use in a retail store or on a shipping dock, where the user needs less than one thousand labels a day.

"The Monarch 9416 printer provides powerful performance in a compact size," said Linda Delaney, Senior Director, Product Management. "Retailers told us that at the point of sale in a store, space is at a premium. Yet, they need a printer that can handle labels as well as hang tags for processing returns, for reticketing, and to replace lost tickets. Work space on the shipping dock can be at a premium as well. This printer does a great job in both locations."

Paxar Corporation is a global leader in the identification and tracking of consumer products worldwide. Paxar products are used the world over by leading apparel brands. Monarch brand products are used by 90% of the top 100 U.S. retailers and their supply chain partners to identify, track and price all varieties of consumer goods. Paxar is a member of EPCglobal, the agency managing the emerging standards for RFID.
