Unitek Miyachi Introduces Desktop Series of Bonders

MONROVIA, CA–July 31, 2003— Unitek Miyachi is pleased to introduce a new series of desktop systems for hot bar bonding applications. Using pulsed heat technology, the Desktop Series can be used for hot bar reflow soldering, ACF bonding, heat-seal bonding and heat staking and provides a versatile and reliable production method for joining flexible circuits, edge connectors, ribbon cables and PCMCIA connectors to printed circuit boards or substrates.

The Desktop Series Bonders are modular systems, designed for maximum flexibility and speed when making connections. The basic unit consists of a pulsed heat power supply (Uniflow®), pneumatic bonding head, and a quick connect block with thermo-plane thermode. All modules are mounted on an adjustable frame construction. The basic unit can be upgraded with either a left-right or a, front-rear slide as well as a manual or pneumatic 2-position index table. Camera alignment modules, Kapton® or silicon interposer feeders, water-cooling and fume extraction are also available.

Applications for the bonders include consumer electronics, automotive electronics, cell phones, medical devices and many more.
