Original Press Release:

SketchUp(TM) 3.0 - Moving Design Beyond the Napkin

AIA National Convention /San Diego - May 5, 2003, @Last Software will be presenting a sneak preview of SketchUp 3.0 in their booth at the AIA National Convention and Expo, May 8 - 10th at the San Diego Convention Center.

Members and attendees to The American Institute of Architects 2003 National Convention will be the first to experience the enhanced features of SketchUp 3.0, the eighth release from @Last Software.

Designers already hooked on SketchUp's amazing power, ease of use, and resource efficacy will truly appreciate 3.0 enhancements, which allow them to take their designs beyond the napkin. "SketchUp 3.0 really closes the gap between idea and presentation," explained David Rich of DTR Architects. Now design professionals can use SketchUp to develop their design ideas from initial concepts all the way through detailing and documentation.

The feel of napkin sketching continues in SketchUp 3.0 with the ability to add text and dimension annotation. Take the design beyond the napkin via e-mail and printing or export for use in CAD, 3D modeling and rendering applications.

Integrating SketchUp images into client presentations is now a snap with output to EPS, PDF, and VRML files for use with vector illustration software like Adobe Illustrator. Or output to AVI and MOV files for use in animation and multimedia presentations.

SketchUp 3.0 allows the creation of curved surfaces and the appearance of smooth surfaces without learning advanced modeling techniques. Designers, continue to sketch - as with your fountain pens.

SketchUp 3.0 will be released in June 2003 and includes the following enhancements:
o Dimensions and Annotation
o Improved Arcs, Circles, and Polygons
o Curved Faces and Soft Edges
o Material Transparency
o Animation Export of AVI and MOV files
o Filled Polygon Vector Output in EPS and PDF
o VRML Export
o Layer Control Palette
