November 12, 2010 - Intended for scrap recyclers, OptiMag D-Series features strap-wound coils and includes DSA deep-field aluminum scrap magnets as well as EDSA extra-deep field aluminum scrap magnets. Both types are suited for fixed and mixed loads in heavy-duty, high-production scrap-handling applications. With standard models ranging from 34-100 in. dia, magnets offer lifting surface size and total weight attributes that optimize utilization of crane's load lifting capacity.

New OptiMag D-Series Scrap Magnets from Winkle Lift More for Less Cost

Alliance, OH - Winkle Industries has introduced a new line-up of deep field scrap magnets developed with the latest version of the company's proprietary computer modeling software.

Winkle's OptiMag "D-Series" lifting magnets for scrap recyclers introduce engineering upgrades to two model ranges, the DSA deep-field aluminum scrap magnets and the EDSA extra-deep field aluminum scrap magnets. The new upgraded OptiMag models offer increased lifting capacity with lighter weight magnets. The redesign process also reduced costs in the new line-up and allowed Winkle to improve upon production and material efficiencies. All advancements are being passed on to the end-users.

The DSA and EDSA types are both recommended for fixed and mixed loads in heavy duty, high production scrap-handling applications, providing a large lifting surface and reduced total weight to best utilize the crane's load-lifting capacity.

The new magnets are the result of an end-to-end redesign and enhancement program enabled by recent refinements to the proprietary engineering software developed by Winkle. The 3D modeling program allows Winkle engineers to optimize the magnet's mechanical structure and coil design to ensure maximum lifting capacity, superior duty cycles and longer service life.

Standard models range from 34 inches to 100 inches in diameter. Weights have been reduced by as much as 10% and lifting capacities have increased up to 15% from the previous line-up. Shipping weights are specified to include the weight of the magnet chains, which are also optimized to suit the strength and safety demands of the application.

Winkle designs all of its lifting magnets to achieve at least 75% duty cycles in continuous 24/7 operation. All customer orders are reviewed by Winkle engineering to optimize magnet specifications for the required application and equipment.

Unlike many competitive models, the D-Series units feature strap-wound coils enabling customers to recover some or all of the initial cost of the aluminum coils if the need to rebuild a used magnet arises.
