click2try(TM) Offers Developers Virtualized Bug Tracking Applications

Provides Six Enterprise-Quality Tools to Track and Eliminate Defects

HOUSTON, April 14, 2009 -- click2try announced the availability of yet another Open Source bug tracking and defect management application. By adding OTRS Trouble Ticket System to its catalog, click2try brings its number of bug tracking applications to six. In addition to OTRS, users can evaluate and run Bugzilla, Mantis Bug Tracking System, Request Tracker: RT, Redmine Project Management, and Trac/Subversion. click2try (http://www.click2try.com) is a community site that features a catalog of virtualized Open Source software.

The OTRS Trouble Ticket System is especially popular with cross-border development teams. Supporting over 20 languages, OTRS is a Web-based system that is highly customizable. Users can define a number of rules for controlling inbound communications. The software integrates with monitoring systems, such as Nagios, openNMS, and SIRIOS. Subscribers to click2try premium accounts can use OTRS and other bug tracking systems with persistent storage, sharing, and secure access.

Both Bugzilla and Mantis are highly popular, configurable bug tracking systems. Deployed in thousands of software development environments, Bugzilla and Mantis both offer capabilities for the small team and large team alike. click2try subscribers to either of these systems can easily share tickets and manage defect tracking with other registered members.

For users of the popular Subversion source control manager, Trac is a well-integrated solution. The click2try Trac/Subversion hosted application provides all of the features of Trac, without all of the installation and configuration issues. While users will still want to configure Trac to work the way they do, basic system configuration is taken care of by the click2try virtualized delivery mechanism.

Redmine has found a lot of popularity among the Ruby programming and Ruby on Rails community. Its advanced project management and collaboration features make it a great way to track bugs on agile development teams. Integration with SCM software and LDAP authentication add to Redmine's capabilities.

Finally, click2try provides a virtualized version of Request
Tracker: RT, a configurable ticket-tracking system for multiple teams working on multiple projects. RT's simple interface helps teams on complex projects track defects and dependencies. The multi-team aspect is supported with roles and custom business rule definition.

"With the distributed nature of development these days, it just makes sense to give developers and teams on-demand access to IDEs, bug trackers, and other development tools," said Tom Callaghan, Vice President of Technical Operations. "By providing applications and storage in the cloud, we feel that we're helping developers get on with the creative work they do best."
