Entensys Announces New Version of UserGate Proxy & Firewall 5.1
The Entensys Corporation has released an updated version of its product UserGate Proxy & Firewall 5.1. One of the most significant improvements is the filtering implementation for the traffic through UserGate proxy services. UserGate determines which type of data are contained in the web server's response: audio, video, image, or document, such as MS Word, MS Excel, and others. The UserGate server analyzes resources transferred through HTTP and, depending on the traffic management rules, permits or blocks the data transmission. Thus, with this feature, it is possible to control loading of flash banners or images, turn off java scripts, and prevent the transfer of certain documents types on client machines.
The updated UserGate DNS module now supports MX, PTR, and non-recursive requests. These kinds of queries are the most important for mail servers located in a local area network and domain name determination based on IP address.
The functionality of remote administration is greatly expanded; now the remote UserGate server restart function is added to the UserGate Administration console for connection to a remote UserGate server.
Among other improvements is the modified algorithm for DNS requests when several DNS servers are specified in the UserGate settings. UserGate will query DNS servers based on their reaction time. If any DNS server delays its response, UserGate will automatically execute a query to all other DNS servers.
The UserGate Statistics module is now able to export statistical reports in an OpenOffice Calc format. Moreover, UserGate Web statistics now contain detailed SIP statistics per user.
Accurate resource filtering and complete Internet access control is achieved through web categorization and web-filtering techniques. The BrightCloud Service and BrightCloud Master Database included with UserGate have been significantly updated and now have the largest, most accurate categorized URL database in the world.
The program interface also has major improvements including Unicode support. Additionally, the new UserGate version can display interfaces in any of the world's languages. UserGate is now available in English, German, French, Russian and Japanese. The interface language is initially selected during installation and can be easily changed at any time.
