Showcasing High-Speed Data Acquisition Systems from ADwin

CHESTERLAND OH — CAS DataLoggers is exhibiting at the American Physical Society’s 45th Annual DAMOP Meeting (Div. of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics) held June 2-6 in Madison, Wisconsin at the Monona Terrace Community & Convention Center. CAS DataLoggers Sales Manager Pete Martin will have an exhibit at this year’s meeting and brings his years of experience supplying data acquisition solutions to academic and research fields. At this year’s meeting he’ll be showing attendees how the ADwin Pro-II DAQ system is ideal for high-speed applications in universities and research. If you can’t make it this year, check out how our ADwin systems can provide the most demanding applications with highly-accurate real time measurement.

ADwin Pro-II High Performance DAQ & Control Systems:
The ADwin-Pro II data acquisition system records real-time measurements at extremely high accuracy with precise timing and deterministic control of experiment processes. The key advantage of ADwin systems are their tightly-coupled analog and digital inputs along with counters which provide extremely low-latency operation. These devices utilize a modular form factor with plug-in modules to allow up to 480 analog or digital inputs in a single chassis, along with a high-performance 300 MHz DSP processor and an Ethernet communications interface. We also offer a variety of other I/O options including CANbus, SSI, Profibus/Fieldbus, RS-232/485, and signal conditioner modules.

The Pro II system’s extraordinary speed provides complex applications with a high data rate and deterministic operation with usecond response times. In addition, the fast processor allows an intelligent pre-selection of relevant data, mathematical functions or digital channel filtering (T11). The ADwin Pro II is available in a broad variety of robust housing including as a desk system for the lab, a portable system for travel, or as a system for panel mounting. Its 5-16 slots and the number of different modules give a flexible foundation for rapid real-time applications.

The ADwin software environment can be used under Windows (2000/XP/Vista/Win7) and Linux, or as a stand-alone data acquisition system. ADwin also has drivers for many popular programming environments including Visual Basic, Visual C/C++, LabVIEW/LabWindows, TestPoint and others.

Modular DAQ I/O Cards:
2013 saw the release of ADwin’s PRO-II-Aout-1/16 50MHz Analog Output Card, designed for high-speed physics experiments. This card features a single 16-bit analog output which can update at a 50 MHz rate along with 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs. In addition to a point-by-point output mode, the card’s onboard coprocessor and memory buffer allows the generation of complex arbitrary waveforms or ramp signals independent of the main system processor.

The new card provides synchronous operation of the digital channels (both the inputs and outputs) simultaneously with the analog output signals. The card is well suited to demanding applications such as scanning microscopy, Magneto Optical Traps (MOT), Quadrapole Ion Traps (QIT) or Quadrapole Ion Storage Traps (QUISTOR). In cases where users require more than 1 channel, multiple cards can run in a single system while running all output channels synchronized to each other. An arbitrary function mode enables analog and digital data to be written directly to the outputs from a large memory buffer (256Mbyte). This can be done in a single-shot mode or in a repeated controlled block mode.
