New Kistler BioWare® Data Acquisition and Analysis Software Supports Biomechanics and Product R&D

Novi, Michigan, USA - Kistler (www.kistler.com), a worldwide supplier of precision sensors, systems and instrumentation for the dynamic measurement of pressure, force, torque and acceleration, has introduced the Type 5695A1 BioWare®, a 64-channel data acquisition system, designed to facilitate reporting on biomechanical research areas such as gait analysis, jump force and impact, ground reaction forces, posturography, microvibrations, sports product R&D and ergonomics.

Designed for seamless compatibility with all Kistler force plates, the Windows®-based, English language Kistler BioWare® software package contains all data acquisition, signal conditioning and analysis tools, as well as A/D board and cabling, to allow both force plate and auxiliary analog signal data from up to 64 channels to be easily acquired, processed and saved. A flexible view configuration includes different coordinate systems, along with comprehensive statistical analysis and reporting, cursor functions and normalizations. Data may be imported and exported into multiple formats and representations, along with data time slice and merge capabilities. This allows for analysis of such parameters as real-time forces, moments, 3D vector, center of pressure (COP) and coefficient of friction (COF). The extensive digital signal processing capabilities of Kistler Type 2812A BioWare® further extends to digital filters, frequency analysis (FFT), re-sampling, software sampling and hold (SSH) and COP enhancement algorithms. Users also have the advantages of full amplifier remote control, input and output triggers (TTL) and pre-and post-trigger functions, as well as impulse, work and force gradient analyses.

Kistler Type 9260AA force plates incorporate the use of a multi-component piezoelectric force sensor, offering a Fz measurement range of up to 5 kN, while ensuring low cross-talk and excellent COP accuracy. The force plate features a compact, lightweight aluminum composite top for a total weight of less than 22 pounds (10 kilograms), allowing for portable use on any flat surface. The top plate can also be covered with any type of flooring material without negative effects on offset or linearity. The unit is available in two sizes, as either the Type 9260AA6 (500 x 600 millimeters) or the Type 9260AA3 (500 x 300 millimeters). The sensor connector is located underneath the force plate, allowing for ease of installation with reduced setup time and maintenance costs.
