Newport Introduces Rugged High-Power CW Green DPSS Lasers

o Millennia® Prime(TM) lasers designed and tested to rigorous reliability standards

Mountain View, CA - May 27, 2009 - Newport Corporation's Spectra-Physics® Lasers Division announces the new Millennia Prime series of 532nm continuous wave (CW) diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers. The Millennia Prime lasers offer high reliability and are backed by an industry-leading two-year standard warranty. With CW output power up to 15W, the lasers are ideal for 24/7 applications where uptime is critical, including photovoltaic solar cell manufacturing, hard disk texturing, semiconductor inspection, material processing, and scientific applications such as Ti:Sapphire, dye, and solid-state laser pumping.

The Millennia Prime lasers feature exceptional low noise of <0.04% rms, excellent pointing stability <2 µrad/°C, and are available in 6, 10 and 15W versions. With a compact footprint, the lasers can be easily integrated into industrial machine tools or used where space is critical.

"Based on our popular Millennia product family, the enhanced Millennia Prime lasers have been designed and tested for extended reliability and are manufactured with our tight manufacturing process controls to ensure dependable performance," said Julien Klein, Product Marketing Manager at Newport Spectra-Physics. "Millennia Prime lasers utilize our proprietary EternAlign(TM) permanent optics mounting technology and our long-life ProLite® diodes, which offer double the life of diodes used in competitive DPSS lasers."

The Millennia Prime lasers will be on display at CLEO / PhotonXpo, June 2-4, 2009 in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S. at Newport's booth #1313 and at Laser World of Photonics at booth #101, Hall C1, June 15-18, 2009 in Munich, Germany.
