Newport's New High-Power 532nm Industrial Laser for Micromachining

o Pulseo 532-34 laser produces smooth-edge quality and minimal heat-affected zone

Mountain View, CA - June 12, 2009 - Newport Corporation's Spectra-Physics® Lasers Division introduces the latest addition to the Pulseo® family of Q-switched, diode-pumped solid state (DPSS) industrial lasers, the Pulseo 532-34. The rugged, high power industrial laser provides >34W at 532nm output with a short pulse width of <30ns at 120 kHz. Key applications for the new laser include electronic package and printed circuit board singulation, ceramic scribing, and edge isolation of c-Si wafers.
Ideal for high-throughput industrial micromachining laser operations, the Pulseo 532-34 is built with the same robust design features as Newport's popular Pulseo product family. These include excellent beam quality, pointing stability, pulse-to-pulse stability, and field-replaceable key components, such as diodes, fiber, and output window.

"For micromachining applications such as cutting micro-SD cards, the short pulse width and high peak power of the Pulseo 532-34 reduces undesirable thermal effects and delivers a much smoother cut edge, which is key to the quality of the end product," according to Tim Edwards, Senior Manager of Product Marketing for Newport Spectra-Physics Lasers Division. "The Pulseo 532-34 is highly reliable and field serviceable; this combined with Newport's strong global service and support network makes this product an ideal choice for 24/7 industrial laser applications. The Pulseo 532-34 is also an outstanding value, measured both as cost per watt and cost of operation over the life of the laser."

The Pulseo 532-34 will be introduced at Laser World of Photonics, June 15 - 18, 2009 in Munich, Germany at the Newport Spectra-Physics booth #101 in Hall C1. For more information on the Pulseo 532-34 laser, please visit www.newport.com/pulseo.
