Up to 25A of regulated 12.0V output with excellent thermal performance

San Jose, CA and Tokyo, Japan - November 05, 2008 - FDK Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange 1st Section: Code 6955), a global electronic component and battery manufacturer, expands its Sensei Series of isolated dc/dc converters with the addition of a new high power regulated quarter brick converter that provides 25 Amperes (A) of output current (300W) with minimal derating at elevated temperatures. The FPQR48T01225 converter is targeted for Intermediate Bus Architecture (IBA) and Distributed Power Architecture (DPA) in telecommunications, WiMAX, data processing, computing, and storage applications that require a regulated 12V distribution bus.

The FPQR48T01225 converter operates from a 36Vdc to 75Vdc input and provides a tightly regulated 12Vdc output. It delivers up to 25A with an efficiency in excess of 92.5%. It is offered in a 2.28" x 1.45" x 0.555" (57.9mm x 36.8mm x 14.1mm) industry-standard quarter brick footprint and pin-out. As an available option, the FPQR48T01225 converter can support parallel operation of multiple units without the need for external components, with a load sharing accuracy within ± 10%.

Standard features include input under-voltage lockout (UVLO), output over-current protection (OCP), output over-voltage protection (OVP), over-temperature protection (OTP), remote output voltage sense, and output voltage trim using industry-standard trim equations. The FPQR48T01225 converter meets the basic insulation requirements of EN60950 and features input to output dc isolation of 1500Vdc.

The Sensei Series converters deliver full-rated output power and current with little derating at high ambient temperatures without the need for heat sinks. With a 48Vdc input and 500 LFM (2.5m/s) airflow, the FPQR48T01225 converter delivers 300W (25A) at ambient temperatures up to 60 degrees Celsius and 250W (21A) at temperatures up to 80 degrees Celsius.

"The introduction of the FPQR48T01225 converter takes the capability of the Sensei Series to the 300W level for regulated output," said Dr. Apurba Roy, executive advisor, FDK Corporation. "FDK will continue to enhance the power levels of this product line at all output voltages."

All Sensei Series products are RoHS compliant. They are manufactured using FDK's state of the art in-house manufacturing processes and systems in Japan. In quantities of 1,000 pieces, the FPQR48T01225 converter is priced at $65.00. Samples are available now. For more information visit our website at www.fdk.com, or e-mail us at qualitydcdc@fdk.com.
