DC/DC Converter concurrently covers all railway bus voltages.May 2, 2014 -
MGDDI-60 Series has 12–160 V input range and covers all typical battery/bus voltages — 24, 28, 48, 72, 96, 110 V — with same device, which is enabled via switching techniques that also keep efficiency over 90%. With 2 outputs (5, 12, 15, and 24 V) for parallel, serial, or symmetrical operation, converters can cover diverse needs. This 60 W series, which comes in 2 x 3 in. housing and operates from -40 to +100°C, is potted to fit rugged transportation environmental conditions.

Gaia Converter introduces a new platform for ultra wide input voltage range DC/DC Converters. This platform first variants are the 60W series, targeting Railway, Transportation & High end industrial applications.
Uniquely wide, the MGDDI-60 Series 12-160V input voltage range is ideal to cover all typical battery/bus voltages at once (24V, 28V, 48V, 72V, 96V, 110V) with the same device. This unique performance is achieved thanks to Gaia's proprietary switching techniques while also keeping efficiency over 90%.
With 2 outputs (for parallel, serial or symmetrical operation) of 5V, 12V, 15V and 24V, they can cover a wide variety of needs such as single 5 to 48V output, +&- 15V or 2x24V outputs (30W each) for example.
Packaged in the low profile industry standard 2”x3” housing, the MGDDI-60 Series have a wide temperature range of -40°C to +100°C and are potted to fit rugged Transportation environmental conditions.
The units are full featured and protected with zero to full load regulation, Trim & On/Off capability, adjustable UVLO, soft start, embedded EMI filter as well as over-current and over-temperature protection.
Complying with EN50155/55022 or equivalent standard becomes straightforward thanks to such wide input voltage range and the use of fixed switching frequency (270kHz) with embedded LC filter. Designed for rugged applications, the MGDDI-60 series do not use optocouplers in the feedback loop.
