Sanyo Denki Expands San Ace 172 Series with Quiet New GV-Type Cooling Fan Motor Yielding 66% Higher Airflow

TORRANCE, Calif., November 3, 2005 - Sanyo Denki, a leading provider of high-quality fan motors, has introduced into its popular San Ace 172 family of DC cooling fan motors a quiet, energy-efficient GV-type series that provides significantly higher airflow. Available in 24- and 48-volt models, the new San Ace 172GV is a sidecut-style fan motor measuring 172 x 150 x 51 millimeters (6.77 x 5.9 x 2 inches) and designed for use in server units, data storage systems, communications equipment, and a variety of industrial equipment.

The San Ace 172GV's innovative new design increases maximum airflow by as much as 66% over its predecessor (11.32m3/min, 400 CFM, 690 Pa/2.77 inH2O), while consuming 20% less power (96 watts). In addition, an advanced impeller and frame design allows the motor to operate 5dB quieter than its competition. Coupled with its advanced performance features, the San Ace 172GV's design makes it a leader in quality and reliability, with an L10 life expectancy of 40,000 hours at 60ºC. The new cooling fan motor is also RoHS compliant.

Optional features on the San Ace 172GV include tachometer sensor and lock rotor sensor outputs, as well as PWM (pulse-width-modulation) control, which permits the fan's rotational speed to be widely and accurately controlled in order to attenuate noise and power consumption.
