January 6, 2012 - Featuring three DB9 female connectors labeled A, B, and COMMON, Model 4428 allows connection of 1 device between 2 other devices or networks. Users can remotely change switch position, query position, and lockout front panel pushbutton control via ASCII RS232 Serial commands. All 9 pins of DB9 interface are switched and switch ports are transparent to data speed and format. Measuring 8.0 x 2.2 x 7.25 in., switch includes 120 Vac wall mount power module that supplies 12 Vdc, 500 mA to unit.

Model 4428 Switches Any DB9 Interface Device Among 2 Others for Sharing or Backing Up Equipment or Networks


The new Model 4428 from Electro Standards Laboratories is a DB9 A/B Network Switch with Serial Remote Control that allows the connection of one device between two other devices or networks. The Model 4428 is ideal to switch any DB9 Interface device used for sharing or backup without needing to unplug and plug cables, saving wear and tear on computer equipment. The switch position of Model 4428 can be changed via a pushbutton located on the front of the unit. Remote control to change switch position, query position and lockout the front panel pushbutton control can be done via ASCII RS232 Serial commands.

The Model 4428 features three DB9 female connectors labeled A, B, COMMON on the rear panel of the unit and two red LED's that display switch position and power status on the front of the unit. All nine pins of the DB9 interface are switched and the switch ports are transparent to all data speed and format. The DB9 REMOTE port accepts ASCII RS232 Serial data so the user can control and monitor the switch off-site. This unit also features a UL approved 120VAC, 60 Hz wall mount power module that supplies 12 VDC, 500mA to the unit.

This dependable DB9 data network switch also maintains last set position on power loss and continues to pass data. This compact, desktop switch has dimensions of 8.0" W x 2.2" H x 7.25" D and weighs approximately 2.0 lbs (0.9 kg). Its attractive anodized black box packaging also provides EMI/RFI shielding.
