May 15, 2007 - Suited for daughter boards in industrial applications, right-angle Delta D-sub connectors feature Pin-In-Paste through-hole technology, and are offered in 9-, 15-, and 25-way versions in 6.3 mm standoff US and 7.2 mm standoff Europe standards. They facilitate movement from solder-to-board or press-fit processes as no board layout redesign is needed. Specific weight balance ensures connector stays in its initial position before being reflow-processed.

FCI's Proven D-Sub Range Expands Reflow Process Compatibility

ETTERS, PA. (April 11, 2007) - FCI, one of the leading suppliers of connectors and interconnect systems, extends its reflow process-compatible D-Sub family of connectors by introducing a new right-angle version for Pin-In-Paste (through-hole) technology. This product line extension will allow customers to reduce their total applied costs by replacing wave soldering or press-fit operations (without requiring a new PCB layout) while saving time due to possible automatic placement. This makes the D-Sub Pin-In-Paste connectors ideal for applications such as daughter boards in many industrial and telecom applications.

"The FCI D-sub Pin-In-Paste technology provides many advantages over SMT," said Sean Riley, regional market manager, FCI. "In line with customer expectations, the FCI D-sub Pin-In-Paste connectors are much more robust than SMT connectors due to through-hole technology. Moreover, moving from solder-to-board or press-fit processes is so easy and fast with the D-Sub Pin-in-Paste connectors because no board layout redesign is required while boards must be significantly modified to be compliant with SMT connectors."

The new right angle D-Sub range is offered in 9-, 15- and 25-way versions in two standards (US standard/6.3 mm standoff and Europe standard/7.2 mm standoff). The connector's specific weight balance ensures the connector will stay in its initial position before being reflow-processed.

The existing straight version of the FCI Delta D range is offered in 9- to 50-way versions. The entire product line is available in a variety of packaging options compatible with existing customer processes: manual positioning, automatic pick-and-place with vacuum nozzle, or gripper.

The Delta D Pin-In-Paste range meets the RoHS European Directive EU 2002/95/EC.

Pricing for the Delta D-Sub Right angle Pin-in-Paste connectors ranges from $ 0.80 to $1.20.
