Custom-Engineered Shaft Seals for Rotating Equipment
July 16, 2002, GEORGETOWN, MAINE: Original MECO shaft seals are custom-engineered to suit individual applications. MECO engineers specify the design and construction materials for each seal according to process chemistry, temperature, etc. and can provide field service for process equipment evaluation and seal installation. Seal materials are chosen from a variety of specialty and hardened alloys, exotic bearing-grade plastics and specialty elastomers. FDA materials are available.
Patented MECO seals are available either partially or fully-split to speed installation and rebuilding. Originally developed for screw conveyors, MECO seals can retrofit many types of rotating dry powder and bulk solids processing equipment such as mixers, bucket elevators, agitators, dryers, extruders, etc., with shaft diameters from ½" to 36". MECO seals solve problems caused by shaft run-out or misalignment by accommodating up to ¼" TIR.
